The Brew-B-Q & Bike Ride Too! is on the 2012 event schedule! A portion of the proceeds from the ride will be donated to a charity to be announced. The start and finish will be from the Riverwalk Parks at 5th Street and 1st Avenue NE. For those who wish to come in Friday afternoon/evening there is plenty of room for tents and buses just south of the starting area, someone can show you. The ride will begin at 9 AM with check-in/registration starting at 7 AM and will go to 3 PM offering up a 25 mile ride through the easy rolling landscape of northwest Buchanan County with six (6) stops for your comfort and is supported by the Sag-wagon. A 50 mile ride is also available for the truly hearty biker, but has only adds two (2) additional stops for your comfort and besides returning to the park before 3 PM would be a very good idea. The 25 route is exactly the same as the annual R.A.S.H. Ride, www.rashride.org, held each June. Early registration is $10 for the ride, a popular request from last year, or $20 for the ride and entry into the Brew Tasting, early registration must be postmarked by August 19 or personally presented to a Brew-B-Q Committee member by August 26. Registering early will can get you into the Brew Tasting which begins at 3 PM, an opportunity to sample a number of beers, a Brew-B-Q commemorative tasting glass and you save five bucks! Registration the day of the event will be $12.50 for the ride or $25 for the ride and entry into the Brew Tasting and that will net you the Brew Tasting Brew-B-Q commemorative glass it’s just that it costs you an extra six bucks. T-shirts maybe ordered with your registration and will be on sale also. Registration or check-in will start at 7 AM. Persons under 21 years of age may register for the Ride. Of course you can’t have Barbecue and Brew without FREE live music. Groove with Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Bob Dorr and The Blue Band and on to Country-Rock masters, our opening group, Lonesome Road. Live Music starts at 2:00 and lasts until 9:00 p.m. There will be vendors offering up some very fine BBQ, other excellent foods and cold beverages. Let your family, friends, co-workers and others that you are going to ride and enjoy the Independence Brew-B-Q. Entry into the Brew-B-Q at Riverwalk Parks is FREE! Come on down and enjoy, Saturday, August 25. Please be aware that no coolers, no alcohol, or pets are permitted within the Brew-B-Q fenced in area. Also, no alcohol is permitted outside the fenced area. |
