Independence’s end-of-summer ritual that celebrates two great American Institutions: Barbecue & Beer! If you’re only familiar with beverages that come from Milwaukee or St. Louis, the 2009 Brew-B-Q is the place you need to be. Sample and enjoy more than 100 micro brews, national brews, imports and craft beers from across the globe in Northeast Iowa’s largest beer tasting. Enjoy all the samples for one amazing low price. Then, overwhelm your senses with outstanding Championship Barbecue, slow cooked for hours over hardwood smoke right in Riverwalk Park. This year, you decide the rib champion in our special People’s Choice competition! As always, ice cold, Budweiser, Miller and Pepsi products available. Of course you can’t have Barbecue and brew without FREE live music. Bring your lawn chair and goove with Iowa rock and roll Hall of Fame Inductee Bob Dorr and The Blue Band and Iowa blues masters, The Dynaflows. Live Music starts at 2;00 and lasts until 9:00 p.m. Plus grilling demonstrations, the second annual Big Green Egg’s Most Egg-cellent Griller contest–and more. Portion of proceeds are donated to the Buchanan County Disaster Relief Coalition. Entry to the Riverwalk Parks area is FREE.
